Illinois...

Melted crayons can lead to all sorts of fun art effects.

There's recycling resource center (called SCARCE https://www.scarce.org/) in our county that collects, sorts, melts, & remolds crayons. When I was teaching, I collected those barely used notebooks, graph paper, colored paper, rulers, markers, scissors, etc. when we did the end of year locker clean out. I worked in a wealthy district, so the kids got new stuff every fall. I was always amazed at the haul and dropped it off. My friend Kay started this program back in the 1990s and it's a terrific resource for teachers. They have a huge selection of textbooks, educational programs, office/ classroom furniture, and helped me write grants for funding a couple classroom projects.

Several years ago DD made a melted crayon tribute to our 1st lav orp.

When DS got older, he did a similar project by holding a crayons & a heat gun and letting them drip. it's funny because both kids happened to do it on 100'F days. Crayons melted with little effort

How are you guys feeling? Did you get covid or just DS?

Only DS tested positive. He has no symptoms - except boredom. Tuesday is his last day of full quarantine. He can return to school Wednesday but must have 6' social distance & no sports until after President's Day.

DH & I tested negative. We need to retest to make sure we didn't catch it, but no real symptoms. I'm hoping we're negative, because I want to get out. DS does not need to retest since his will show positive for several weeks. Since he's had no symptoms, I even wonder if he had it weeks ago.

Felt like tornado weather today. 60* and going to be high of 40* tomorrow.
I had rain on frozen ground, had to use a ski pole to get around the poultry yard.....was 50f yesterday when I went to bed, 32f now. Snow later this morning.

Had a couple toms fighting. One was one I wanted to process. Grabbed a leg and about fell. He got away and I seen him breeding later...he had a very lucky day lol

Raining now:( freezing rain later today. Going to get everything done early today. Snuggle up with a few blankets and enjoy a movie and hot chocolate.
:lau Fighting toms..... At first I thought tom cat. Wondering if people started being open about eating cat now:gig Took me a second but my brain finally hit the right gear. He was a lucky guy.

So far mother nature has been kind. Nothing but rain through the night and early morning. It melted just about all the snow. The only bits left are a few sheets of ice where it was thick and some clumps where snow and ice was piled high from plowing/shoveling/snowblowing.
Now the weather forecaster says we're to expect 2-4" snow later today. I can manage that. Hopefully it's just rain though - although I'm not sure the houses along the river feel the same way as there's a flash flood alert here for the next two days.

No, no, no. No more rain. My pasture around the coop is a muddy sticky nasty swamp!!!! My front yard is underwater. I'll take the snow. At least I can use the sled to haul water out to the coops.
Let's agree to disagree. :)
I'll hope for snow for you and rain for me or no precipitation for both of us would be nice right now too.
