This weekend has been "for the birds" and not in a good way! My soon-to-be-ex husband gave me covid and this morning I went out to the coop to find that 2 of the babies were bloody. I noticed one immediately because she's lighter and it was obvious. She wasn't getting up much. So I brought her in the house, cleaned her up and kept her warm. She was peeping and trying to get out of the towel so I thought maybe with mom was the best place for her because if she makes it but mom rejects her, she won't do well anyway and there's only so much I can do for her anyway. So I brought her back out, closed mom and the chicks inside the coop so the others can't bother them. Then I noticed one of the others was bleeding too! I took her and cleaned her up though she wasn't nearly as bad. Mom doesn't want anything to do with the other one. You can see she's cold but mom won't sit on her. She even tried to squeeze under her sister who wasn't having it. I'm not sure what to do with this little one. If I bring her in the house and nurse her and she makes it, what chance does she have as a solo chick that mom won't care for and the others are after all the time? But if I leave her out there with mom, she's probably not going to make it anyway. I don't like today very much at all.
