Illinois...

Mine are camera shy too.. looks don't matter, what works does matter... I use a heating pad instead of a lamp. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/956958/mama-heating-pad-in-the-brooder-picture-heavy-update/450
I actually have read that thread! We were talking about trying it actually. Husband is worried it would be too messy especially since we are still getting some pretty runny poops. Side note, I found some pretty polka-dot contact paper type stuff on crazy clearance I was thinking I would line a closet shelving system with. Then I thought since the coop is going to need to be lined next week maybe I should use it there for some fun flare. But would multi colored polka-dots drive them crazy? They all already attack the thermometers like they are scary monsters, so I don't know how bright colored dots would go over haha. I would use it on part of the floor and some of the walls so it would be able to wiped clean easier?

Am I the only husband on here? LOL

Cavemanrich is a husband too

Actually, you can create your own local thread but usually they don't become that popular because there are not that many chicken people. For example there is a thread for Chicago but very few signed up and then got bored and left.

I realize. I just think it would be more successful if they were forums. We could then go into the Illinois forum and find and help local people. This thread is great but you just have to follow along... Not that it's a bad thing lol. I enjoy it

Here's what we have in our garage tonight:

This is DD carrying Moose to bed.

If you think he looks like a handful, you should see DD when she has Moose under one arm & Mr Dummy under the other

Chick issue

One of our penciled rock chicks (came from shipped eggs) cannot walk properly. I've never seen this before. At 1st I thought injury, but now I think it's from deformed feet. I gave it some vitamins (Poly-vii-sol without iron) & "Sav a chick" in water. It's drinking & I figured vitamins wouldn't hurt while I research.

Do I need to cull it or is this something that can be treated? Any advice on what to research?

Now I feel horrible for not spotting it sooner. Cookie is such an awesome broody, so I haven't been fussing over the chicks as much.
