I am hoping my Brahmas keep laying during the winter. Everywhere I read about them, it says they are winter layers. It is time for my two Oros (youngest of my flock) to start laying but I think they are going to hold out until Spring. I have heard that late summer chicks may not lay at the typical 20ish weeks, but may wait all the way until Spring to start laying.After weeks of nothing I'm finally getting two fresh eggs a day. I have a feeling it's the Jabez who started up production. Like you, BReeder, I had to buy eggs for Thanksgiving.
Don't worry, we'll all be rewarded next spring! If it ever comes!

Blizzard is beautiful. She looks a lot like the blue laced we got from you over the summer. I'd say our girl's fluffy down feathers are a lighter shade just.I decided to take some pics of Blizzard today (partly because of all the the snow last night & because her name is Blizzard.) She's in the later stages of molt, so her fluffiness is returning.

Blizzard is the biological mama & Mr Wonderful is the father of your laced pullet. The lacing changes as they grow so it's tough to judge what they'll look like as adults. This is Blizzard's 1st true molt. She's taking her own sweet time, but at least she didn't have to go through that prickly bald porcupine look. She pretty much lost a little here & a little there over a couple months. (Her last egg was mid Sept!)
