@homeschoolin momma
Your 1st lav orp egg is pipped along with 2 laced orps.
6 silkies & 6 seramas are out and making quite a ruckus.

Well the count is up to 10 seramas (2 eggs left), 6 silkies (all out), 3 lav orp pips, & 3 laced orp pips.
:wee:ya
Hatch day can be so much fun! It's already pretty crazy inside the incubator & only about half have hatched. Today is DS's last day of school. He'll be welcomed home with an incubator full of chicks.

:hugs:hit I am so sorry for your loss:hugs
It's so hard when they go
They had a good life.

I'm so sorry she's gone from you! It's so hard to lose a favorite. :hit:hugs:( Hang in there the best you can.

I wish I could see you in person to give you a real hug. I know how hard it is to lose your all-time fav chicken and that you tried everything to save her. She lived a great life and knew you loved her.

Thank you all so much for all the hugs and support. This has been so hard and I didn't get much sleep. Woke up with a migraine today because of it. Today we will bury them. Because of the number of birds we have we have made an incinerator to cremate them as our yard can only hold so much but Pebbles and the laced girl will be buried.

I sure hope she knows how much I loved her. She hated me feeding her the last few days(with a syringe very patiently) it was the only time I swear she was ticked off at me. I hope she knows I did it out of love and not to torture her.
Her pictures don't do her justice. She was mostly a typical colored EE but she was blue not black. Her tail was blue and she had a blue spangle at the end of each hackle feather.

Her daughter Bam Bam was fathered by a half bantam(oegb/ee) blue boy and has her mother's beard and golden hackles but most of the rest of her is all blue.

Look at all the tiny chickens! Youre going to be overrun!

I have a bad feeling my lone serama is gone. Nothing has happened since last night. Ill probably take it and candle it tonight to see for sure. Still waiting on spitzie pips. Don't they know I'm anxious?!?

Hang in there. Bantams always hatch first.

Your 1st lav orp is out! 3 more lav eggs are pipped. (I like when the hatch is on time.)

The incubator is a very busy place. Only one pipped serama egg left to hatch, and all the silkies are out. The big yellow chick in the center is a blue Silver laced orp.

Can't wait to see what they look like when fluffed.

Hello everyone

Bad night here.

After several days of heightened care following finding my favorite hen Pebbles(EE) down in the tractor we separated her and another hen into for special care and feeding(the other hen was just a companion) this afternoon Pebbles took a turn for the worse and she passed away around 5:30 this evening.

Yesterday she was holding her head up curious and able to balance again. I thought she may just make it. She even talked to me a bit yesterday and was so close to being able to stand up again.

I'm going to miss her in the worst possible way and miss her sweet talking to me. Miss her wanting up and jumping up to my arm. My sweet little owl.

Bwawk bwawk!

Goodbye my little Love. My little soulmate.

I love you Pebbles and the flock won't be the same without you. Neither will I.

You were the first chicken that showed me how chickens could surpass an interesting livestock and become a best friend.

Sneaking into the house to beg for tidbits. Always knowing I'd save the best treats for you.

Even a week ago when DH2B and I took out into the garden and dug piles of worms for you because it was all you'd eat those couple days. You running from my hole to his slurping worms like spaghetti.

Words can't express my broken heart and how much I already miss you.

Sweet dreams baby girl. Meet you at the bridge.

At bed check things didn't get any better. We lost another hen, our only second generation blue laced silver hen with amazing lacing. Purple comb. Looks to have been fatty liver disease or possibly heart failure due to fatty liver. Lots of fat deposits she was an extremely healthy hen. It was hot here today but she was out running around as normal. Dead under the roost at bed check.
Sorry for the losses. Hope the rest of the hens are OK.

set 61 chicken eggs so far this year... 23 were shipped eggs (1 hatched)
Have 13 chicks... talk about a dismal hatch rate... only 1 of the 16 eggs broodies sat on from the beginning hatched... and that one was late and I finished it in the incubator.

Good thing I have too many turkey poults or I would starve over winter LOL

Im so happy, relieved and excited! My lone serama still lives and is wiggling out of its shell as I speak! I've got at least 1 spitzie pipped, cant see the others too well without keep opening the inky which i dont want to do. I just took the serama out of the carton so it could push open its shell better.

I did a quick peek at the experiment eggs. 1 day and 1 week look pretty good, maybe a few at the 2 week and 1 at the 3 week, but it's hard to tell with the darker orp eggs. Out of the 14 spitz eggs, Jake's slipping. 2 look infertile and 1 looks like a blood ring. No 100% fertility this time. The 8 serama eggs are disappointing. It was a quick check, but looks like 1.....maybe 2 took. Guess I'll start saving some more of Phee's eggs once the smaller inky is clear.:idunno

Wow, you just can't wait to finish your current hatch, so you can start another one.
Sounds like you've been hanging out with me too long! LOL
:lau
Right now I literally have 2 doz eggs sitting in my basement "just in case." My logic says I don't have to set them..... I could just eat them...... collecting isn't the same as hatching......

But seriously, I'm glad your hatch is moving along.
