Illinois...

What a weekend you had!

I'm glad your MIL is doing well. She sounds like quite the fighter.

It's so cool that you got your rabbits. Did your DH2B make a nice rabbit mansion for them?

Surprisingly being pooped on by a dog is not something I've experienced. (Other types of feces - yes. Far more than I'd like to count!) Good for you for not letting that giant dog fall! It was hard for us, but about a year before Shockley died, we had to make the decision to keep him in the lower level (on the tile floor). We really missed having him upstairs, but he lost control of his bodily functions when he stood up. Not to mention all the strain for him to climb stairs. He needed a quick straight shot to the backyard for any hope of doing his business outside. We did walk him around the outside of the house and in through the front door when we wanted to spend some quality time with him.

She sure is a fighter! I pray she continues doing this well. I'm still not sure what the future holds for our wedding etc. DH2B is more optimistic and says we are continuing to plan and will still have the wedding on September 21 2019

No rabbit mansions yet they are in a set of 8 attached cages we bought from the breeder until we build their larger cages which we are hoping to be something like a rabbit mansion with continued upgrades. As these guys will be breeders we want them to have a full and happy life not some boring little awful existence. We are planning to buy the wire and begin building them this coming weekend.

They had a taste of maple branches today and loved it.

And just like that, my green eggs are gone.:hit "Something attacked the chicken this afternoon. Jake and mama spitzie went flying and running around the house and i ran out to see what. My dad and i finally found the pair at my next door neighbors. Cant find the other 5, but found a huge pile of brown feathers, some with skin attached. She was my only green egg layer. Still cant find the other two spitzies, black ee, or sportzington. The most important four are safe. (Jasper and Phoenix along with Jake and mama) Trying to get Jake to crow to bring the others home, but hes radio silent.

I'm so sorry your birds are missing. Could be a family of raccoons, coyote or fox.

Its been hours and still 5 are gone.....where could they be?

They're scared and hiding they'll likely come back tomorrow if they're safe.

Two spitzies and the black ee are home. A spitzie and the black chicken accidentally found themselves in my neighbors fenced in yard with his newfies. One of the newfies was chewing on the black ee. We saved her just in time while the spitzie flew back over the fence. Sportzington is still missing.

You found your EE?! So happy for you. Otherwise I was going to offer a couple EE and also I will be hatching CL as the breeder has our first eggs ready and I would part with an Ameraucana if you wanted. I know how hard it is to lose birds but I'm glad your favorites are home.

So you did find your EE? The owner of the feathers with flesh attached?

So I totally almost choked to death on a bug probably a mosquito at lock up tonight. I think the darned thing was so big that it filled my entire airway.

Rabbits are doing well and calming down. They are turning very sweet! The black one especially has calmed a ton. The little broken black/steel baby still has some trust to build I mean they all do but she seems to be having the hardest time. We also discovered that the blue doe didn't know there was food in her feed dish which she was throwing around so she went hungry yesterday. We felt so bad as we thought she was just angry about the new environment.

This post was written several days ago but apparently never posted. Sorry about that.

She was named Phantom, but I gave her that name originally because her face reminded me of the "Phantom of the Opera"

I think her wandering may have been a "Sebright" thing. Our "Trouble" is perfectly described by her name. She used to enjoy visiting our former neighbor to join her for some tea & biscuits. (The neighbor spoiled her terribly!) DD taught her how to come when called so we could easily get her back home when needed. However when Trouble's broody, she teaches her chicks how to go under the fence and go for some adventure.

I never saw our poults "fan" out their tails like that. (Last year, our turkeys were pretty lazy in general.) I hope I don't see the new ones wrestling. I did see the big one harassing "his" chicken siblings by grabbing their heads, so the poults got a half day of confinement in the garage. Not sure if he realized the cause/effect, but the behavior stopped. He couldn't grab a chick's head if there were no chicks around, and he sort of forgot about doing it when returned to the tractor.

Usually the tail fan is a girl, if so she was winning that battle.
