I should weigh my duck eggs. They are so large that the lid cannot set down all the way on our egg tray in the fridge, which is very large cells.

Yesterday I collected 4 in the Peewee size. Don't have a scale, but they were from my banties

Everything is slushy snow... the ducks don't seem to care one bit though. The chickens and turkeys go in at dusk, the ducks decided to stay out though wandering around the wet snow on the lawn in the backyard.

You know you have spoiled chickens when ....
you bring them into the basement for the night because the temp is dropping below zero. The good news is that it's only for the night. I leave the seramas outside in a heated coop if the temps are in single digits or above. Exception = the spoiled house rooster!


Update from the odd family:

MaiMai cares for her little and big chick. Solo is still skeptical about her new cage-mates. I can understand being afraid of the silkie, but she's also afraid of the little black chick that follows her around. Thankfully, MaiMai and the chick do not attack Solo, so perhaps she'll gain more trust over the next few weeks. At least she no longer runs away from them.
