Illinois...

Next year I think I will plant day lilies instead so I don't have to replant every year.
@notafarmbeat me to it. You've got to ask the right folks! I've got some day lilies I planted 3 years or so ago that are ginormous and probably need to be thinned a bit...
This little bird was on the planter by my front door the other day. Any idea what it is?
Its a cute and curious little bugger!

Yes you can go in!
Thanks. I (wife) tried calling to ask and went through all departments and after 20 minutes nobody answered.
Good morning! I haven't been on BYC in days. This post is a bit long to catch up.

New turkey poults are doing well, @Faraday40 and @Molpet. The big turkeys, Supper and Dinner, are doing well too and beginning to look plump. :drool

@Molpet, those are from your flock as well as the black cornish X in this pic, "Duck" the chicken. All are well and plump actually. Duck is molting though so her feathering looks a bit patchy right now.

My five chicks are big enough to integrate into the flock, but they are apparently still small enough to squeeze through the fence. We found out the hard way as a neighbor brought one back to us.:he They are all accounted for and back in the outdoor brooder (large dog crate) until I can tack some wire up. @Faraday40, the one that got out was not an orp. Those two are definitely too fat to get through the fence. :lau

Lastly, I managed to get some landscaping done yesterday. I extended our river rock lawn edging and lights down the driveway and planted a few tiny marigolds in between the lights. Hopefully they'll grow well and bush out soon. Next year I think I will plant day lilies instead so I don't have to replant every year. They were expensive though at $7.98 for one plant. Anout 5 years ago I remember I was able to get a full tray of day lily starts and they were far more economical. I also dug up the grass around one of three trees, cutting an edge as I went, and then mulched around it. I need to still do the silver maple on the far right and the smaller red maple behind it. A lot of work...

That's all I have for today. I'm off to go help a friend with a small construction project.
Catch you all later!
Love the turkeys. It's time to thin out my lillies so say the word. They are summer blooms. Some irises below

Can spare some irises that smell like grape soda.

I also have orange tiger lilies multiplying. Moles keep eating my hostas so they aren't abundant.

@cavemanrich and @Molpet and I think @Faraday40 be careful. Some protest activities maybe in your area. Hopefully the anarchists dont show up.
Yeppers
Alerts were sent telling me to stay home because large groups of violent protesters heading towards New Lenox... stores closing... FB that they were going to hit Frankfort this evening

On this beautiful day, we were happily working in the backyard knowing nothing about the suburban protests. I came in for some water and read that some shopping areas were recently hit. Most of the activity was to the south, but still very scary so close to home. No need for us to go out tonight.

Stay home. Stay safe.

Momma's eggs started pipping yesterday and unzipping today, so at great risk of losing a finger, i brought her and her box of eggs into the garage. She has 5 spitz eggs and 1 ee/spitz egg. I gave the about to hatch ee egg to the lavender who hasnt gotten up to eat, drink or poop in a week. I actually forced her out this morning for 20 minutes this morning. I dont think my orp eggs are fertile. I dont see anything under her developed or in my inky. So shell have to raise a singleton. Inhope this will make her happy.

The other two broody spitz have 4 and 2 eggs respectively. I'll let the other spitz add one more to Spitzers nest tomorrow for 3. Spitzer is the least dedicated right now. Im over run with spitzies. I still have 6 left over from what I hatched out. One for sure is a girl. Petite, but has some missing feathers on her back. I think she always found herself on the bottom of the pile and it caused her to lose her feathers. At least two are mles because they are practicing their crow. Of course those two are the ones with the nice crests.....🙄

Took some pics of my pint sized serama cockerel and his sister. He's smaller than her! About the size of my hand.

Poor cookie, all turkeys and one lonely lavender chickie! Those poults will soon be bigger than her!
Good for you. You found the orp chick! There were 2 brown poults that kept riding on Cookies back. All but 3 poults went to Wisconsin yesterday. Cookie is down to 4 babies. Life should get easier for her.

However, I tried to free range them today and the poults did not stay very close to Cookie. I put them pack in a protected pen.

Meanwhile in Wisconsin, the babies are crying nonstop for their Cookie mama. @chickendreams24 said there's a brown one who is the worst of them all. (I'm guessing that's one who liked to ride on Cookies back all the time. LOL)
