Illinois...

Possibly fox? Skunk? Possum? I thought fox would take what it could to the den. All these were still here and killed for it's best pieces.
Put up a game cam so you know for sure.
When you get the area secured, if you want some of my meat mutts let me know. They are broody raised, so they are wild. I have too many right now. I have 6 I could give you..about a week old that could be tamed down if you got them now. Not sure of sex.

Thanks. I set out the traps so we will see. It is never easy to lose some of your flock but this gut punch isn't as bad as the first time. I will miss my cool cockerel. I really liked the orange with the pearl blue of an australorp. I have the recipe so maybe I'll try to make it again.
I will let you know about the meaties

Very sorry for your loss! Considering climbed on top of something I still would think raccoon. The berries would only be in the scat if the animal were eating berries, maybe it had not ingested any. They can be terrible predators. I hope whatever it is you catch it.
One of several raccoons. Caught the first one but must have been another that took the bait after. The second mouse gets the cheese.

Still have the Grill going:idunno

I wasn't ready with the first and tossed it. I'm expecting more tonight though. Not sure I would eat it (though honestly wouldn't be the worst I've tried to eat, or even close), but why not cook it and feed to the chickens? I am considering it. Though would have to be outside maybe not even the grill or DW would not be happy lol.
