Illinois...

Lol. I am usually oblivious to the outside realm. DD is the nosy one, little investigator.
I hope you sister enjoys the neighborhood. It's a nice place. Nobody ever bothers anyone. Well up till my letter that someone complained about my rooster. Have to set up an inspection. Just going to put him in dog cage in the house at that time. I am pretty sure I know who it is. They will learn when I find the most annoying animals I can legally own.
Is your area incorporated Joliet or is it unincorporated? If unincorporated, how can they hold you to local ordinance? Will county allows roosters, so an unincorporated property should be allowed roosters by County law (or lack there of an ordinance stating otherwise).

Kind of surprised it was the 2 lowest on the pecking order that were the meanest to them. But once I closed them in, the Barnevelder ignored them completely and the other 3 were really pretty good. Hoping this means the babies can move outside soon!!!
I noticed this for a long time as well. When I introduced new chickens to my flock, the LOW PECKING order CHICKENS , do not want to stay at the bottom. The TOP Peking ones know they are BOSS,,, and have no need to prove.

I was about to say the same thing but @cavemanrich beat me to it. Thankfully most of my flock consists of Orpingtons, so they're pretty chill about little things like pecking order. They really only care about important things - like treats and their food portions. (That's Orpingtons for you!)

I took this picture this evening. @Faraday40 would be proud of me!

I also found that a mouse chewed through the top of me feed storage container. There's three dead ones in the trap. I hope one of them is the lucky sucker that got a free buffet in my feed bin. I'm upgrading to 32 gallon metal garbage can. The current bin is a heavy duty tote. I have another heavy duty tote in the chicken area of the coop on top of the nest boxes. It never gets messed with by mice. I imagine a chicken or turkey would chase the mouse. I began keeping the extra feed in another tote in the shed coop, but not in the chicken area. That's the one the mice got into. On the plus side, I caught 9 mice so far out there. I need to rebait the trap again. I have to be putting a dent in their population.

Very cool! Are these eggs from the 2020 spring turkeys? Or do you have females left from last year's hatch?

I wonder how my pair is doing.... My neighbor noticed that we're down 2 turkeys.

Again she told me how much she enjoyed watching them and how they're great at fighting off hawks. (I know she's hinting to see if I'd reconsider my Thanksgiving plans.)
