My lavender orp was tormenting and chasing the turkeys again today. I think they finally stood up for themselves. I went out a few times to scold the flock but they occasionally resumed when I wasn't there. My orp had a bloody comb this evening but not too bad - especially considering each of the 3 are much bigger than him. Hopefully he leaves them alone tomorrow. The plan is to keep them at least another week.

Raising 3 turkeys over the summer seems to work out for me. They are doing their job of keeping hawks away. This year’s group are more affectionate fun and quirky. It could be because they were raised by a serama. Everything in life seems to confuse them. That gives me daily entertainment. They are also very passionate about buckets. I will miss them but also looking forward to being turkey-free this winter. The female will be going to a BYC friend in WI. If you need to rehome them, I could ask if she wants 3 more. Yes ask if she wants them. I can bring them to you the night before you plan on going or earlier.. what ever works for you.. I just don't want to feed the owls and don't have room. They are living in a extra large dog crate, in a spare bedroom, which soon will be too small... there's 2 brn and a calico. I think there maybe 2 jakes, one of each color.

Standard or mini Rex?
This thread has quieted down. Hope everybody is doing well out there.
Not much chicken or duck action around here. Just the usual stuff: feed, clean and fill waterers and collect eggs. Drake is doing better and has been outside for several days now. He keeos his neck scrunched rather than stretched out, but I would too if I had a puncture around that went into muscle tissue. He's doing good otherwise.
The latest craze at home is the reastablishing of a salt water aquarium. A friend gave me a cube tank, and I had rocks and sand in a tank of salt water with no fish for some time now. So I moved everything into the cube tank and got it going for several days. We just added some crabs, shrimp and snails yesterday. The kids love it.

I had aquariums for a long time, but things come to pass, and I decommissioned them, but still have them. They were fresh water only. I did think about salt water types,,,, but slapped that thought out of my head for the obvious precise maintenance of salinity, and all else.
But,,,,,,,,,,,,, at that time, I considered instead of getting HIGH DOLLAR$$$$ salt water fish,,,, some live lobsters from Jewel Food Stores. The smaller ones were less cash than the larger ones, for obvious reasons, so I would have got 2 smallest ones from tank. What I did not have figured out (at that time) was,,,, what would I feed them??? Second point of worry was,,, Would the 2 fight each-other??? I would have the clamp that is on their claw removed.
Honestly, they likely wouldn't survive long anyway. Stores don't usually feed those lobsters. Same goes for crabs and fish you may see in live tanks at stores. In Chinatown there's a lot of this. The animals are usually starved and in rather poor health. Additionally, lobsters like that may require cold water like the waters in the Northeast were they likely come from. It's expensive to run a chiller on an aquarium.
Just my thoughts. Be glad you never spent that money in lobsters.
Poor girl. Last of the flock. She waited until November to molt and she's shivering in the 30 degree, blustery weather right now. I brought her into the garage. She'll have to share the mini serama coop for a few days
