Illinois...

All crossed with my Arkansas Blue rooster:
Arkansas Blue
Silveruud (light green egg x Blue = aqua eggs?)
Plus a couple polish (couldn't resist, offspring will be just nutty)
Olive egger (offspring should have "spearmint" green eggs)
I agree, they often look pretty sporty when they're crossed with non crested varieties.

Look what I saw at Aldi:

I've heard of heirloom plants & seeds - but heirloom eggs?! Will they grow if we plant them? :lau Perhaps they're using "heritage breeds" and it was lost in translation or someone in sales thought it just sounded good.

I laughed at the sales gimmick but was shocked by the price. They are only medium eggs. Doesn't say pasture-raised or even organic.

Just a marketing gimmick, probably a definition for heritage that wouldn't fit.

I guess "Happy egg" does come in different varieties - like "free range" and "organic". Looks like their "heirloom" variety just means blue, brown, dark brown shelled eggs from hens given feed with something like marigold extract to make yolks orange.

I know we're all spoiled when it comes to good eggs.

I posted a picture of some eggs on Facebook and someone commented that she just loved how the blue ones taste. I didn't have the heart to correct her. LOL!! We are definitely spoiled!
Yes, the hen's diet is what matters most. Freshness too. There's something so satisfying about cracking open a nice firm shell while the egg is still warm.
However,
I have always preferred the eggs of my 9 yr old Easter egger. Tyrion could be a pure Ameraucana since the breeder had just retired them into the layer flock. Her eggs always have a darker, firmer yolk. This is odd since my chickens are all given the same feed & run around the yard together. Perhaps Tyrion eats better or there really could be something to the breed. I haven't figured that part out.

I'll admit I could be tasting with my eyes, but part of the beauty of backyard eggs is seeing them and being able to personally thank the hen for breakfast. 💕 Definitely spoiled!
