Illinois...

We picked 15 lbs 7 oz and didn’t make a dent!

It’s called “carmine jewel “. Self pollinating dwarf bush cherry. …. Well it’s not a dwarf but everything else is as promised. The flavor is both sweet and tart. It’s good enough to eat straight off the bush, but a little sugar makes it a dessert. Works great for pies and indulgent milkshakes.

This year I think we have more cherry sprouts than dandelions out front. Lol. Feel free to dig either up!
- You can even take some bonus raspberries and rose of Sharon from the lawn. They just get mowed if growing in the grass.

Don’t forget the baby silver maples. They’re not in the grass but found growing in every flower bed and pot we have.
We have plenty of silver and red maple sprouts here. They pop up in any bare soil. And I'm not a fan of raspberry plants since I found out how thorny and aggressive they are - my neighbor has raspberries and they are coming up in my side of the fence in my garden.

Kinda wanted to show off my hard work with the new run. It's just me with no carpenter skills so I made it as simply as possible. Used cattle Panels, chicken wire and still need to put up the hardware cloth around the bottom. Still need to paint the door.

Looks good!
One small suggestion, but a diagonal board or gate cable kit (sold at big box hardware stores) on your door/gate to keep it from sagging/warping.

I called in sick today. Felt crummy and couldn't sleep much at all last night.
I eventually got on my feet and put some siding up on the shed/coop. I need to buy a few more sheets of T1-11 siding, but nearly done. Just the front and back peaks, two 2ft sections on the sides, and a <1ft gap at the top of the sides. Probably 6 more sheets, but at $39.99 each I am getting sick of siding real fast.

Chickens and poults are ready for their new home. I should be able to get them in tomorrow I think. I'll still need a roof, but I will tack up a tarp to keep them in and rain out (what rain anyway?!) for a few more days.

Just finished the baby coop since I had to separate the BR from the BO. The door comes tomorrow. But for someone who has no building skills it's just ok. It will work. It's just behind the big run.

Raccoons will thank you
No raccoons seen here ever. I did find out my neighbor has an opossum living under his shed though so I kept the birds in the sun room a while longer. I have the plywood on the roof and nearly all the siding on. I'm going to get the shed fully enclosed and then get the birds in their new home. Three new nest boxes, 8ft roost and poop board are all in place too. Enclosed run is coming still.
