Tornado crossed our area but we’re fine. Minor power flickers is all we experienced tonight

Now last night’s flash tstorm was another story. A Pretty light show in distance but then the rains hit. Sheets of rain. Too much water too fast. It literally rained in our daughters room via her closet light.

Glad you're safe and hope not too much damage.
How's everyone else? There was a tornado near Manhattan.

I got about 6ths of an inch but a smallish tree went down on the net poultry fence near the creek. I cut it off but a couple of the posts are bent. Usually they spring back but not sure about that this time. I'll have to try to straighten when they get hot.

We were watching the weather updates on TV. As the storm got closer, more warnings kept getting issued.
I removed my patio umbrella both days.
Mondays' storm took neighbors' tree down. (next door) It just brushed his house, and did not cause much damage.
Last nights' storm was more severe overall, but we did not get any major blast thru our area. The sirens were warning of the approaching storm.
There were reports of touchdowns all over the storms' leading edge. I think the closest one to us was at O'Hare.
I was glad when it all passed,,, It was moving soo quickly, intense storm was short.

Rough week for our family.

Father-in-law's funeral
My dad fell, was injured, and hospitalized for several days.
Had to find and move him into a good rehab facility for 2 weeks.
Must still care for my handicapped sister and work a part-time job
Kids procrastinated their 4-H projects - and the fair is next week.
The tornado took the power at my dad's house. It's flooded now. So much damage that I must clean up! (My sister lives there but is in wheel chair)
With all the stress, my own home is being neglected.

To add even more heartache, I asked for help bringing the chickens in last night. The most spoiled pampered silkie hens usually get carried inside, but not last night. I never double checked the work of the kids or counted chickens. Little Boba, the one and only Xansie, and our beautiful MaiMai were left out in the backyard all night.
Boba was was waiting for us on the patio.
Xansie feathers all over the yard. Something got to her, but she escaped. We found her laying in grass by an apple tree. Injured, bald in places, but alive.
MaiMai ???? We found her feathers in 2 places but no blood. Not even as many as Xansie. we searched for hours.
One neighbor said she saw a clump of fluff along our fence but when we walked back to look, there was nothing. (We even brought Teddy and treats back there to lure her out of hiding. Not a peep) Sadly, this particular hen has no common sense or survival instinct. The longer she's gone, the less chance of a happy outcome.

So sorry 😭 for all the troubles.
I hope the kids learned a valuable lesson.

Still feeling the guilt and sadness from the loss of our beautiful MaiMai. We checked throughout the day but no luck. I carefully looked through the feathers left behind and noticed a little skin attached. Poor Xansie is not herself. She's not really eating (unless treats) nor "talking" Her wounds don't look bad, so I'm thinking it may be depression after the ordeal. Has anyone else experienced a depressed hen after the loss of a flock member?
