OK. This is the same silkie who is blind in one eye.
1) What type of bird , age and weight.silkie, around 8 mos old. weight... a few pounds.
2) What is the behavior, exactly. Not walking, when he does try to move his left leg sticks out at a horrible angle. Left leg is stiff and unresponsive, toes are curled up.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? he limped for a few days, but yesterday could not walk at all.
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?yet again, no. This bird is the one who gets all sorts of problems (blind, never crowed, bottom of the order, etc.)
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.I cant tell about broken bones, but the bird makes no sound when i felt the leg in question.
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. i was thinking he limped because he was blind on that side, but im not so sure now.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. eats layer, drinking water.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.I dont know...
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?isolated him, put him in a small cage within easy reach of food and water, but he doesnt move.
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?well, he is blind, he doesnt lay eggs, and now he cant walk. a useless eater int he end
so i might take him to the vet and put him down.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. Sadly, no. ill try to get one though.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use at night he slept on the roosting pole (or he did... now he is in that small cage on fresh hay.)
