So, last week I had a few poultry problems, for those of you who read and responded to my frustrated rant - thank you I appreciate it. One of my issues was a shipment of eggs from an ebay seller who IMO did not package the eggs properly for shipment. They were placed in an egg carton with a rubber band around it. Of course they were destroyed. I wrote to him twice asking for some way to resolve the issue. He offer to send me more for the same price I had already paid. If he had offered to replace them for the price of shipping and PROMISE to package better I might have done it. But he wanted to total of the original auction price, not just shipping. Why would I do this if the eggs are just going to be destroyed again?!?! I would just be out twice as much money and still have no eggs that were suitable for incubation. He sent me a message after I gave bad feedback...

You are truly a bad ebayer! To leave someone neg feedback for something that is NOT their fault and had offered to help is just wrong. AS STATED IN THE AUCTION I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS WHEN EGGS LEAVE MY HAND!!! I ship hundreds of eggs a month and DO NOT have a problem with the way they are packed. It is a proven way to safely ship them. The postal service had to be very rough on package to arrive like that. You know this feedback is NOT proper and I urge you to take it back.

Here are my eggs:

I admit I wrote back here is what I said:

I sell and ship eggs myself, and I do not ship like that. In many years of receiving shipped eggs I have not ever received eggs that were packaged in this way. You did not offer to replace eggs or help - you offered to sell me eggs again for the same price I paid before. Why would I spend more money when the eggs are likely to be damaged again due to the way you package? So I would be out twice as much money?! I think people should be aware of the way you package your eggs - I never would have bid if I had known....If this makes me a bad ebayer - so be it.

But, now I find myself feeling kinda guilty - should I have tried harder to resolve the situation? Should I take back my negative feedback?

Please do not take it back those eggs were not packed well and others should be aware. I hate it when a seller gets upity for bad feedback when they clearly deserve it. So often they yell and scream until someone changes it then the next person who buys from them is unaware.

I bet I can guess the seller this has happened so many times before.

Sorry about that!

Why feel bad?He clearly does not want to take responsabilty for bad packing and shifts the blame to the post office.
I have had boxes abused by the post office but the shipped eggs survived because they where packed well....

sellers like that need to learn a lesson, I delt with two of them this year, dont take it back if he cares about his customers, he will make it right
