I've raised chickens for years, and even hatched a few batches from a little hen who decided she needed her own. Took a break for a few years till my 20yr old daughter decided after seeing the YouTube video of the Light Brahma, her and her grandfather decided they were going to get some. So I built a new coop and decided I'd try to do some incubating. I built an incubator first batch 33% hatch rate, 2nd batch 86% hatch rate. So here I am hooked with 3rd batch in the incubator due to hatch Christmas eve weekend. I've done a lot of reading and learned a lot from this site as well as others, and I even managed to drag the misses and my 13yr old daughter into the mix even though she claims not to be interested, but come candling day she does all the egg handling. So thanks in advance for letting me be part of the group.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

G'Day to you as well and thanks, me and my family have been down under once. Wish we would've stayed such a beautiful country, we were there for 15 days saw so many different areas and such a vast variety of life styles from Kangaroo island to Cairns. We loved every minute of it.

Hey, I am pleased you liked it .. sometimes, like now, it can be a tad on the hot and humid side. I am actually half way between Cairns and Townsville :)

Thanks, I have a batch of what we call around here barnyard eggs in the incubator now. Mix of different surprise eggs per say. So we'll see what we get, lol
