As you know I got a new sewing machine a few weeks ago. I've sewn things before, just not things I would wear LOL. Pillow cases, little curtains, and other things that don't require much skill that have fallen apart or are now part of my floor wrag collection. I certainly have never sewn a button or zipper. Anyhoodle, I found this very easy tutorial to follow HERE and now I need fabric. I live on an island so I have to go miles to physically purchase fabric...so I want to get it online. I've been on ebay and Google and I just can't tell if I'm getting a deal or not. I don't want to start with a gob of fancy fabric for this ONE project but maybe just a few big scrap pieces. Does anyone have any ideas? Or fabric for sale? Or links to a fabric store that can help a beginner? Thanks AGAIN for all your help everyone.

Never been to one LOL. We have one about 60 miles away but hubby would never allow a shopping spree there. He has his reasons I guess.

remember to do a coupon code search for fabric.com they usually have one floating around for about 35%off.

fabricdepot.com.... if you sign up for their email list they'll send you their sales. Often they will not post their prices, but once you add the fabric to the cart you'll see the price. I've never seen better than 35% off as well.

That being said, fabric.com has their fabric listed lower than most to begin with so I find with the coupon code it's the best deal. NOTE: their pictures are terrible. If you want to buy something search for it online and try to get another site selling it. Usually others will be selling it and have better pictures.

Oh and I can't forget my other fav. http://www.fabritopia.com/ she has good sales as well seem to be quarterly. Just keep checking back, and remember these are 1/2 yard prices.

problem with ebay is the age of the fabric. Depending on what your going for it may be a little old (ie if you're making a quilt you want to have around a while...). Just be careful....

I agree that also goes for thread too! Joann.com is good.I have purchased from Walmart too! I don't know if you can order fabric online though.I live in the city so theres practically a Walmart every five miles. I purchased some fabric from ebay.I've sewn for 30yrs and I've seen fabric on there that I used back in the 80's!And your definitly not being a pest..I wish there was somewhere I could have gone for advise when I was starting out sewing and canning and all the other fun things and projects I've done. This is the greatest place to go to for just about EVERYTHING.
