Im an Englishman in New York

Hi all,
I've been lurking and reading posts in the background for a few weeks now so thought i might as well introduce myself to the group.
I'm new to this whole chicken raising lark as i only picked up my girls about 4 weeks ago, so I've been trying to learn as much as i can to get off on the right foot. I have 3 Welsummer's right now which i picked up from Long Island Poultry (i think they are members of this forum), although I'm not sure if i will expand the flock, there are so many breeds that i find fascinating.
We live in Nassau county, Long Island so enjoy what the outdoors have to offer us for entertainment. I'm originally from West Yorkshire in England and have spent the last 17 years here in good old Hicksville, NY.
Ive spent the last few years turning my small backyard into something of a grow your own vegetable garden and i would love to eventually produce a sustainable amount of food for my family all year round.

(you should embroider "I don't think I'll expand my flock" on a sampler and hang it up somewhere you can look at it when you are overrun with fowl. If only....)
