I'm Ana, aka bluekitten1 and I'm new

I hope to start chicken in the late spring, but I am new to BYC and am a novice. I have a decent sized yard, but tons of local predators, including cats in the neighborhood the size of medium dogs. 0.0 I will need a complete enclosure, which is sad :-( But we are a blended family of 9 people and could desperately use fresh eggs, and the family chore would be fun...and educational...
We live in Maryland, outside of city limits, and with no HOA. We rent, but our landlord is fairly lax, so long as anything I make or build is removable. We have six children here ages 17 months through 13 years...I would love any and all input, please give me pointers and guidance as I am just beginning research for this project...
