I'm confused about our WCB Polish chicks.

We have two WCB Polish chicks that are 15 weeks old. We also have 6 EE chicks that are 9 weeks old. Half of these are the same size as the Polish gals - I think they're gals...

I don't know enough about where these Polish chicks came from to know this...

But, how do I know if they are bantams or not?

Does the Polish breed have full size as well as bantam birds?

If so, how large do each of them grow?

Note: In regards to their sex... should 15 week old roos crow and have wattles by now..? We don't have either of those things going on. Let me know if I'm too soon to guess.

polish do come in standard and bantam, from what i have read standard get 4-5 lbs (if memory serves), and i have found hardly anything on bantam polish online.

you should deffinatly be able to tell sex at that age by wattles and the shape of their headdress, can you post photos? my 8 week old polish are sexable as the boys have large red wattles, and the females have virtually none.

Here is a picture from about 10 days ago. Nothing has changed in their look at all. They both look just like this one.

In picture #2, the one on top had just fluffed her feathers. They are about the same size.

Here is a pic from earlier this month. The Polish look to be about the same size as some of my EEs though there is a 6 week difference in their ages.

What are your thoughts?

There are bantam size.Your's are standard. I think.I alway's had standard's.The Roo's can get fairly large.I don't have any polish this year but would like to get a few back.They are Nice ornamental bird's and they do lay white egg's.If you want just egg's in white for eating.They can be Very tame and loving bird's.But they don't go broody so I wouldn't recommend them for anyone looking to raise them for chick's unless you plan to incubate the egg's yourself.

So, even though they will be "large fowl" - they're still going to be smaller than my other full size birds - EEs, BOs, and BRs. Right?


I found this site with info. about the standards for Polish birds. It's hard to believe that the bantam ones weigh only 24-32 oz.
