I'm confused . . . what's happening?

One of our hens did this last year and again this year. Just covertly follow her after you let her out and she will lead you to where she has hidden the nest. We do not have a rooster and the eggs are not fertile so whe would have sat on them forever or until a predator got her so we removed the eggs. She started another nest and we did the same thing. Now she lays her eggs in the coop. We also left one marked egg in the coop to show her where to lay and it seemed to help.
 
i put my broody girls in to the time out cage, and it takes about 2 or 3 days to break a girl out of a brood, at least with the silkies. I am about to find out if the same is true with a Blue Marans.
