I'm eggcited!

We got 3 standard size barred Cochins pullets that are about 6 months old.
Their combs/waddles are getting real red and their doing the squat thing now when you pick them up.
I read that Cochins don't start laying until 8-9 months of age.
I'm eggcited that they most likely will lay sooner!

Not to dampen your eggcitement, but my standard girl started squatting about a month and a half before she started laying, and started singing her egg song and checking out the nests about 3 weeks before she laid her first egg at about 9months. But do be excited, because you'll have that first egg chest swelling pride like you laid the thing yourself no matter when it comes, even if they make you wait another three months, that feeling never gets old!

Awesome!!! I'm always happy when a chicken can make a liar of me!! What an adorable egg! Glad your girl had the decency not to make you wait!
