I have, now.Haven't you been warned about the addictive nature of BYC ?
I had to do the same thing recently…and our soil is so hard and rocky that I had to use a mattock. Still have blisters on my handsExactly. Happens more often, lately, it seems.Breaking new ground for garden, and no rototiller. The old-fashioned way. Wish the chickies could do it.
Oh, ouch.I had to do the same thing recently…and our soil is so hard and rocky that I had to use a mattock. Still have blisters on my hands
Yes, I normally wear gloves and have no problem with blisters but this time I was stubborn. “I don’t need gloves, I’m no wimp! What kind of farmer wears gloves?“. Yeah, rightOh, ouch.Do you wear gloves? I still get blisters with gloves, but usually not as bad. I have a planting hoe that can get down pretty deeply, but I still have to comb through and pull out the Bermuda roots and break up the dirt clumps. I hate gardening as I feel inadequate and tend to kill more plants than I grow. If it doesn't bark, whine, mew, whinny, cluck, blat, moo, or chirp I forget its there.
I have an old World Book Encyclopedia from the 1980s, and figured I'd read about how to break new ground for a garden and that there would be an easier, more efficient way than what I was doing. HA! They must not have had rototillers in the 80s!
