I'm forever the optimist but can this one make it?

I candled my eggs yesterday (day 10). One that I previously suspected dead showed a definite blood ring. I got rid of that one. Another that I thought might have a blood ring on day 6 or 7 looked like it might be developing. I kept that one and will check it again in a few days.

The rest all appeared to be developing. Three even moved while I was looking at them.

I can see the air cell clearly on some, not so clearly on others. I guess I'm bad at candling.

One definitely has its air cell in the wrong place. Instead of at the end, it is on the side of the egg. It is closer to fat end of the egg than the smaller end, but definitely skewed to the side. Does this one have a prayer of making it and not drowning?

When I candled a few days ago it looked like I would have an abysmal hatch. So I ordered more eggs! Now it looks like this hatch might not be so bad after all!! 10 -11 out of 13 eggs look like they are promising. I guess I will just have to do this all over again when the new eggs get here!

When you get to day 18 make sure you candle the egg with the air sac more to the side and turn it so that the air sac is on the top. This will give the chick a better chance to pip into it after getting turned around. Good luck with your hatch. Jenn

I have 2 with the air sack on the side and they are doing well, just waiting for them to come out and greet mom!
