Updates
I'm sure many who posted a couple of months back have eggs now!
My girls are 24 weeks tomorrow:
- Both Anconas started laying a couple of weeks ago. Medium slightly off white eggs. Both laid 4 out of the last 5 days.
The last one was a Large, the first from either of them, and it had a double yolk.
- One Cubalaya started the day after Thanksgiving (my sister's B-day
) and laid again on Sunday. Small, pale rose colored eggs. The other is squatting and checked out the nest box yesterday.
- One EE started squatting a week ago last Sunday and flattens like she's ducking a low flying predator. She'd be the perfect display of "what does 'the squat' look like?". She laid her first eqq yesterday, a double yolk XL blue-green! The other E.E. doesn't look at ALL ready.
- I THOUGHT one or both of the Faverolles started 3 weeks ago (Someone laid those 3 small light brown eggs!) but I've seen nothing that matches for 2 weeks.
- One Australorp is squatting and yesterday was wandering and talking to me in that "things seem odd" way that the Anconas did a few days before their first egg so I opened the lid on the nest box and put her in. She checked it out, scratched around for maybe 5 minutes then hopped out. The other is not at all ready, and she is the BIG girl.
- The Partridge Chanteclers aren't squatting and being a cushion combed breed, I'm not sure how much comb they will have to get red as a clue!
