Congrats! No missing toe won't hurt anything, just not desirable for breeding or showing. I too love silkies! They're my favorite.

As you've already been informed, just make sure to keep them warm, but make sure they have room to move away from the heat. Sprinking food on the floor is a good way to first entice them to eat, sprinkle it around a dish, then keep it in a shallow dish. Always good to keep rough (not sharp!) pebbles in their water dish for traction, they can drown or slip and hurt their legs in the smallest big of water. After a week or so that can be removed.

Excellent advice! I just wish it were easier to change the water without accidentally dumping all those rocks in the sink!
