Im getting new hens!

I saw this ad on craiglist in my city that they're selling ameraucana and BR laying hens. They sell them for $12.50 im getting 3. How many of which should I get? she said that they are between 1-3yrs old, are they good for laying at that age?(3 yrs)

I don't know about ameraucana's but for BR's 1-2 yr olds are great layers......older then 3 years, I'm might be a little more worried about! Good luck to you!

Get the youngest ones possible.

Make sure to practice good biosecurity (search on BYC for what that is).
