I have checked the local parlors very thoroughly. A friend and I took a drive into town to check things out. The first places we saw had sleazy written all over them. They were dirty inside and I didn't think the people running them seemed competent. The work was being done by young punks that acted like they were on drugs. They were yucky. Then we walked into one that was neat and orderly. It was as clean as a doctor's office. There were separate rooms that the tattoos were done in, kind of like little booths. We were actually greeted by somebody that asked if he could help us. He took us to a lounge area and showed us each artist's portfolio books. He spent time explaining the process, aftercare, etc. He explained that they liked everybody to have the little counseling session, then to to make an appointment. That way you could go home and think about it just to be sure. That one is a bit more expensive, but I would rather pay the money. I will also say that the artists there were excellent. The work in the portfolios was far above the quality in the other places. There was a man being tattooed while we were there. They said we could watch, but we were not allowed in the same room. We watched through a glass window. OMG, I have never seen such intricate and beautiful tattoo work anywhere. That place was much more sanitary than the others. I couldn't believe the difference in these places.
