Well, my duck pipped the other night. I tried not to pay attention because I think I tend to help them when they dont yet need it. So, 24 hours later and he has made a big hole, well, bigger than his beak, and had started zipping. Thats fine. He will be out by morning. So I go to bed to wake up to a dead ducky. There was a red goo (to thick to just be blood) that came out from his last point of peck. If that had anything to do with his early expiration, IDK. And the other two duck eggs, I cant tell if they have live chicks or not, so probably not.
And I go to candle my eggs today. i know I have banties that quit or were scrambled by the post office, but now I have 14 worthless bantie eggs and a silver phoenix, a gold phoenix, and 8 LF eggs beside me just looking for a trash can. And, I was so desperatly trying to get some Blue Orps in a couple of mix orders, only got 2 and one has a BIG frickin ? now because I think it quit too. Both turkey eggs (shipped so it doesn't surprise me) I think quit, but I left just in case I dont know what I am doing. I am left with 7 bantie eggs I know are kicking right now and another 7 that dont seem to be doing anything. At this point I am not sure what I have in there now because I am chunking so much right now.
I know its not me or my bator. The first batch of shipped eggs I had all developed and I only lost one cause it pipped through its yolk and...well didnt make it despite all my efforts. And my June Swap eggs...all but one (out of 14) kicking in the bator. And on a positive note, me and HappyMtn swapped some chicks. She took some Buff Orps and I got some banties (since I knew all mine had got to CRAP!) Thanks HappyMtn!!
