I'm having a problem Integrating flocks

This pic is very outdated, but super cute. They were about 2 weeks old here.

Wouldn't you know it but my Mallard came home this morning!!! I was out in the garden weeding when I heard a quack and when I turned she was glaring at me in front of the chicken coop (it was still closed from last night)!

My husband rolled his eyes and said "Oh My God, how many ducks are we going to have now?"

Just the four after we pick up our new babies haha!

In the meantime; the floor of the new duck house has been completed and we have started the one end wall. It is going to be a cute little A-frame and so far has not cost us a thing as we keep raiding the scrap lumber bin!!!!!
I'll post pics as soon as I get them uploaded!

If it makes him feel any better, I found 4 to be a very nice number. Not too many but just enough for everyone to have a bedtime cuddle buddy.

And as quickly as she arrives, she is gone again

I was going to give her some time to unwind before I traumatically clipped her wings. I guess I shouldn't have waited

Lesson learned.... I'll get her next time!

I use a wire dog kennel inside the coop to integrate. I'm integrating 3 new ones as we speak. They've been in the kennel for 4 weeks. They all free range, but the babies stick together running from 2-3 of the 8 adults.

I think I'm going to put them on the roost tonight. My roost is a 14-16" shelf on two walls. It's pitch black until I turn on the light or open the outside door. Today they were all in the run together with the run door open. I was surprised to see this. The babies are 12-13 weeks old.

The picture is adorable!!

Nicole01 I thought about using a wire kennel in the coop, then I decided that it is better for us all around to have a separate house for the ducks. With our chicks however, that is how I worked on getting the adults used to the baby chickens last year. It worked like a charm! After spending weeks together they integrated more smoothly in the end.

I am super pumped for getting our new babies!!! The duck house is coming along nicely! Life is good!

THEY ARE HERE! We picked up our new babies today and the boys have already taken to calling them our "Kentucky Penguins"

This is a picture of our back yard (after a few hours of mowing in order to prevent embarrassment). The coop and duck house are in the back corner as well as the blue kiddie pool that is sunk into the ground and surrounded by some weeds to provide shade. Ummm 4 ducks make a HORRIBLE mess of that little pool!

The new duck house filled with shavings and ready to house my 4 babies!

The new babies; we havent agreed on names yet but they have been nicknamed our "Kentucky Penguins"

I'll post more as we get them, I was trying to let them get acclimated today. Tonight I put all 4 in the house and am now sitting anxiously in the house hoping and praying that everyone will settle down and become friends tonight, or at the very least not kill each other before morning.
