I'm having speech trouble and it's getting embarrasing!

I do the same thing more than I like. I get talking to fast and not thinking and my words come out backwards. Or I do the I cant remember what it is called too. I bet it is something we all as kids consumed like the tin in soda cans. But yes, it is stress related and too much happening at once and thinking of one thing and saying another. Or maybe too much internet time on BYC..... NOT

My dad gets migraines that show with neurological symptoms.. No actual headache, just things like slurred speech, numbness, etc.

Then again.. my dad did have a brain tumour

Just have your hubby point at you, roll his eyes, and whisper to whoever it is "Tourettes". Roll his eyes again.

My co-worker did that to me once when I cuss loudly, not knowing someone was there.

Stress can most definitely do this, and since you seem to have a lot at the moment, I'm betting that's what is going on.

No, this is NOT how Alzheimer's starts. With Alzheimer's, you forget how to find your way home, or you forget the faces of family members and do not recognize them, or you drive to town and forget why you went. These are typical early signs; not being unable to come up with a word is not. We all do that one time or another, just more reason to think of stress first as a likely cause.

Obviously, I can't know what is wrong, and I'm certainly not suggesting you don't need to follow through with your doctor. But I would bet the house that Alzheimer's is not the answer.

Maybe take up yoga or meditation????

Stress and I also just heard on that new show The Doctors, that menopause (sorry, no idea how old you are, general reference here) can also great affect memory on many women!!
