Enjoy your amazing babies. I have four new "started" birds (Bantam Cochins) on order that will be shipping the first week of April, and then I get to start raising my own chicks! Cnnot wait for some fuzzy butts

Same thing here. Everybody thinks we are crazy ! I am so in love with these 5 little chicks. I think it is so much fun just sitting in front of the brooder watching their antics! I agree so much better than anything on TV.

At what age can you give them scrambled eggs. I feel kinda wierd giving them scrambled chicken eggs. Is there anything else we can give them for extra nutrition? They are eating their starter feed. They are about 1 week old now. My black sexlink doesn't seem to be growing like the others are...NH Red and Tetra White.

I had been home all week and left last night for several hours. I couldn't believe how much I missed them! Then I woke up this morning to go right to them even before making my coffee

If they're being fed chick starter, they don't need any extra nutrition. Most of us who use mild treats (such as bits of scrambled egg), are primarily either just spoiling them a bit or trying to get them use to people/friendlier. Many people say no treats until they're several weeks old. I began giving egg bits at almost a week. Now, any treat that isn't really mild will need grit offered as well, so that they can break the food down...

You certainly don't need to feed egg (ever) to your birds; but my grown girls even get chicken scraps - they can pick KFC bones clean

You can get a 'baby cake'. It's like a flock block but designed for chicks. Mine have one, I put it in during the day and take it out at night. It also turns into a 'toy'. Their favorite game for weeks was Who's the Queen of the Block!
