Im in shock right now

Certainly sounds like nobody needs to be out walking or jogging alone and unarmed at night. Good grief!
Coyotes eat 3-5 lbs a day. 20 coyotes x 5 lbs =100 lbs (25 chickens@4lbs each=100)

20 Coyotes (typical pack size is 8) COULD kill and eat 25 chickens but they couldn't eat the chickens AND a donkey too.It would take a pk of 40-60 coyotes to eat a donkey (Donkey 220-500 lbs)

Normally they dont come anywhere near my house. Theyve been bold lately. The other night i tried to scare them off because I didnt have a good flashlight on me to get a shot on them and they stood their ground. Ive never seen them stay still when a man is coming at them.

I let some of my birds free range and some are locked up. The ones that free range roost on top of the barn. They pried double bolted doors open. But, theres no scratches or bitemarks on the wood. No paw prints anywhere. The only reason I know it was coyotes is I found coyote scat by piles of feathers way out in my pasture.
Edited: My guess is the coyotes or mountain lion(s) jumped up on the barn and killed the chickens that roost on the roof .If there is anything near the roof edge they could leap from there to the barn (shed, deck, vehicle, etc) Either one can jump a tall fence so its fair to say they could jump up on the roof(especially a mountain lion).

Mountain lions kill large prey like cattle, sheep and donkeys whereas coyotes typically prefer small prey. A donkey would fight to its death and can kill a single coyote (one on one). Mountain lions also leave scat . I suspect whatever killed your chickens JUMPED up on the ROOF of the barn and killed the flock that roosts there. (Neither coyotes or a mountain lion can get inside double bolted doors without damaging them ) Because it would have taken 20 coyotes to kill and eat 25-30 chickens(100 lbs) I suspect you have mountain lion(s) as someone suggested earlier.

The chickens may have been carried out to the pasture and eaten by something other than coyotes .Its possible they only finished off what was left on the carcasses.

Can you spot the cougar in this picture. While you are looking for him, he is watching you.

Please be careful. This is just an example.

I seriously think you can cross a dog pack off your list. Dogs kill for sport. They will kill and move on to the next moving target...until there are no more moving targets. They may eat one or two but they are in it for the thrill and usually leave remains if not whole bodies behind.

As I said. You need to get the authorities involved and be extremely careful. Be armed if you venture outside and make sure you keep little ones safe because they are easy prey to a large carnivore.

Cleared out a lot of brush and found some more dens. So far 5 large dens spread out over about 3 acres. I set up a hide last night and but they stayed just outside of my property so I couldnt get a shot. But, I think everyone is correct, i heard something at least 100lbs jump on the goats climbing car and its not in their pen so it wasnt them. Had to be a cougar.

Gonna have to get a little more serious about this.
