The movie The Natural Life of Chickens is available on Netflix. It features the craziest Silkie-Lover, ever! I like the story because I seem so sane in comparison.

I'm going to break in here and say that I've never understood the attraction of silkies. I don't think they're ugly, just pointless. Same with bantams, Pomeranians, and strollers for dogs. And we have had some very friendly standard chickens who will sit on my lap AND give an egg a day. To each his own, but my own is personality and practicality.

I totally kept my mouth shut and thought I was alone, so thanks whoever resurrected this thread!

me too. I have never seen a silkie personally, just pictures, but I just dont get it!??!! I am not really a bantie person anyway, really... they seem kinda like toy poodles to me... (Sorry poodle people!) What are they actually FOR again???

And I SOO agree about the NN. Sorry people, being honest here! THEY ARE THE UGLIEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN!!

Whew! That feels soooo much better!!

I understand how ya'll say it ain't a real chicken, just like a chihuahua ain't a real dog. LOL. I like the personality and how they go broody. The bantams I got don't really do broody, so I got my little silkie!
