I am mildly surprised that your 5 EEs are laying that well at this time of year. I am very curious about what production breeds that you own.
Here's good story for you. My son and his wife and our only grand daughter bought a their first new home and and were moving in this weekend. We went on Sunday to give them a hand and see their new house. Now my daughter in laws parents were there too and they are both psychiatrist and live in Chicago. I swear they both pull out the same little notebook and make notes every time they are around me. So me and Dr. Dad were talking and I mentioned some new pictures I saw he had posted on Facebook. Oh yes they had been in Germany and Nepal and some other places I had never heard of and he just went on and on about their vacation and the amazing things they had seen. After he finished he ask so what's new with you. I proudly said " we got 3 eggs this morning" Out came those notebooks.
sorry for the big multi-quote, I was a bit behind...
I'd like to have some SFs also, but my real wish is for cream legbars.
I do have seramas... mine lay lots of eggs
You did great!!
Glad i didn't read this while i was at work today. Everyone would have come running to see what i was dying laughing at.![]()
Is your wife into the chickens also?
My dog steals my beer, but so far my smokes have been safe around the birds.
pretty cochins.
I finally got my frizzle cochins moved into their baby coop..
Mine like flies.. Which is great, except they like to chase em into the building and then they think they should be allowed to hang out...![]()
Im so glad chickens aren't judgemental. My outfit of the morning.Patchwork owl flannels, badass woman t-shirt,and my trusty poop boots....all coming to a Paris runway this fall.View attachment 1163415
So, the saga of I'm Never Gonna Get an Egg, continues. 29 weeks old now, and out of 9-only the australorp is laying. No one else is squatting. A few weeks before Licorice laid her first egg, she started being really vocal, and friendlier, checking out the nest boxes. NONE of the others are doing any of this. They still think I'm a chicken killer and try to stay away from me, unless I bring treats. Meanwhile, Licorice is constantly yakking at me, and trying to kill me by squatting in front of me all the time. I found if I "pat" her butt, just above her tail on her back, she will stop screeching and squatting at me for awhile.
My salmon Faverolles Stopped laying! 1itty bitty egg in the last 10 days. I swear they are laughing at me.
I love them but Dang. Utility birds my foot. They were laying 2-3tiny bantam eggs a week. Now nothing. shoot! View attachment 1164408 View attachment 1164409

She's beautiful!the only consistent layer I have is Tribble. 5 EE are giving me 3 eggs each a week... Tribble is a Serama Silkie mix... 5-6 eggs a week for the last 3 months. She started right at her 20 week birthday.

I agree! I have 4 of them and the most I've gotten in 1 day is 3, but for some reason both my blue eggers stopped laying, then one started back up, but most days I'm luckI am mildly surprised that your 5 EEs are laying that well at this time of year. Sooo pretty! I think some of these ladies are trophy chickens and think they're too pretty to produce. That tiny egg is adorable. Are you going to keep it? I have a giant egg in my fridge right now, it'd def a double yolk, but I'm hoping it has 3, it's reallllly big! And I just realized something. Is it possible that when a hen/pullet lays a double yolk that they not lay the next day b/c they don't have a yolk that is ready? If so it may explain some of my ladies and their intermittent laying.Pssst... HEY!... HEY YOU!!..... I'm waitingggggg....
