Sorry I have waited so long to get back on here.............NOTHING HATCHED, I left them over 30 days

I wonder if I didn't get scammed?? Although I could see stuff inside when candled, I didn't open them before
I threw them out. I had opened one that looked weird and it just had lots of dark rotten smelly stuff in it!
That about made me throw up so I didn't open anymore.

I won't buy off of EBAY again....they don't gaurantee the eggs in anyway.

Thanks for all the great info., I love this site.

I have an order in for Spring chicks from a Hatchery.

I have this 3 month old frizzle and she is now watching 2 of the babies

the white speckled maran (george) to the front- I think he may be part EE he has green feet- she is also watching (stuffy) the light colored cochin in the blue bowl. The other two "Shilo, Sumi and the broody "Baby Gaga" went to a little girl down the road who hatched out just one chick,
plus they wanted a broody.

I had ordered eggs off of ebay before but it was the hottest time of the year there, and here and the eggs all got shipped by air- the air cells were detached and I didn't hatch any. now I have a friend who lives by me she gave me these eggs

.
tan are delaware- darks are blue copper marans, blues are legbar, blue green are isbar. later I will get swedish flower hens. yeah! she is so sweet.

Mekat, so sorry that your eggs did not hatch!

If you saw anything growing at all inside when candled, that means the egg was fertile but eventually stopped growing at some point, for whatever reason. Even if you saw just the tiny, faint, round "bullseye" or red veins, then they were fertile eggs. Did you see any of them like that?

Lots can happen to eggs being shipped. Jostling or scrambling by postal, detached air cells (very important), extremes temps. (Especially in winter.) just to name a few. It is often recommended to let them rest 48 hours before incubating. Sometimes there can be incubating issues as well/ temp or humidity, etc.

Chicks are a great way to go- we usually order chicks as well, and have nice, healthy birds.

gimmie birdies- Your chicks are SOOO cute! They grow so quickly! Your neighbor sounds really sweet.

You have the one extra dark Maran egg... might be worthy to consider banding this chick if it hatches, and keep track of this one, since you know the chick came from a very dark egg. Maran's roos who come from a very dark egg are likely to pass that extra dark egg gene along to their young. (Hens have something to do with it as well, but known dark egg gene roos can help a lot to darken future eggs- just a thought...) Besides being mostly docile and good natured, these roos are gorgeous to look at too. Hoping you get a nice pullet though if you can't have roos.

You may be right in assuming your Marans has EE blood too- the green legs. As I understand it, many/ most Marans have slate over pink legs and feet (or pink).
