I'm new - Hi all BYC Chicken lovers!

Thank you all! I will post pics as she gets older. I say she but not sure. Is it too young to tell?
(Right now I'm in my bedroom and she's next to me on a towel on my bed! If I leave her outside she stands at the door crying . So far she hasn't pooped in the house. Only in her cage inside. She stayed under the table while I ate lunch and never went. I took her out for a few minutes and she went out there. In bed, so far no poop. She's preening herself and me

This is considered weird chicken behavior right?)

She (hopefully she) must think you are her Mum. You have a good candidate for a house chicken that's for sure. Do keep us updated. Some breeds take longer to show if they are going to be a boy or girl but nothing is screaming boy at this stage. Plus her breed is a bit of a mystery at this stage which doesn't give us any clues. She sounds like such a sweetheart.

Oh, I forgot to add to my last post that I AM aware that I'm displaying weird chicken owner behavior by bringing her in my bedroom and letting her wait in the kitchen while I eat lunch and read the mail BUT that's just who I am lol I also have parrots and parakeets, from small to large

My chicken

is as follows:
Hope Sunshine, a Cuckoo Marin - she was my first chicken. I saw a post on Craigslist for a special needs hen and decided that I wanted to try to help her. She hatched on March 3rd, her previous owners got her at about 3 days old. She developed splayed/spraddle legs. They have a lot of chickens and were raising a bunch of hens and didn't have the time to work with her. So rather than cull her, they posted her online. She was a bit old to start working on her legs but I did and they got much better. But as she gets bigger every day, I swear she's fatter by the minute lol, her legs splay again. I just keep working on them. I'm going to eventually consult a vet and see if there's a permanent fix (against everyone's opinion because they think she should be put down but she gets around fine and she's happy).

Stormy Skye, Buff Polish - I got Stormy and Baby from a chick farm so that Hope wouldn't be alone and lonely. Stormy got sick about 2 weeks after I got her. I didn't think she was going to make it. I got meds, special food and water and vitamins supplements and water additives and kept her in a "hospital" cage in my bedroom. I fed her and gave her water with a syringe until she was able to do it on her own again. She's fully recovered now! I thought that she was going to be my "baby" that followed me everywhere. She's Hope's bodyguard. Lol She stays by Hope's side and keeps her safe.

Baby Girl, Cochin Bantam - Baby Girl was the chick that I thought was going to be my cuddly one. She's easygoing but also watches over Hope. She doesn't mind being held but prefers to roost or lay in the grass or leaves.
Those are my 3 original chicks, supposed to be my only ones

Marbles and Silvie (I have to change their names now that I know what they are, thx JaeG & Chicken Girl!) came a few weeks later. They are very very bonded. They don't mind the bigger girls but the big girls don't want bothered, ugh! They all stay in the same coop but I try to keep them on separate sides. The Belgians don't mind my lil ostrich bud but Silvie, the silver blue-ish one tries to chest bump occasionally. That's why I started thinking male.
Whew! Sorry that was so long! As you can see from this post, I am definitely chicken crazy

I tend to agree with JaeG. Some chickens are able to bond with humans the way the do with other chickens and if you've reinforced this behavior by allowing the little one to be by your side then it would likely stress the little one out to just force her to be without her protector and friend that is you. If you can, there is nothing wrong about having a house chicken. At the moment due to city noise ordinances my young Roo lives in the house with us and he likes it just fine. We include him in activities and he has his own special space that is plenty of room as well as a mirror so he can see his beautiful reflection (he thinks its another chicken I suspect). Here he is in fact, looking pleased with himself. Colonel Cluck

He's adorable! I love his name as well. What breed? I still need to name my sweetheart

Any suggestions? She's currently sitting on my shoulder. She was on a towel on my lap and climbed up and decided to preen my eyelashes, little ouch! She's been pooping on the towel

Hopefully she'll be fairly easy to house train or my husband will be packing

I've seen chicken diapers but honestly i think you won't have to choose between husband and chicken. The birds burrow their way into your

. The girl without a tail needs a name? Ok.I'll think about one while i am at work and check back here after.

ChickenChaser9,
Yes she does because of her spraddle leg problem. I get them fixed up and straight but that doesn't last long because as she gains weight, they splay again. I think all chickens are adorable lol The guy at the store where I got this little mystery chick said that they were going to have to "get rid of her" but not in those words...he followed by saying that on top of her deformities "it doesn't help that it's Ugly too"

Awwww, she's not ugly I said! She's beautiful, just in her own way.

You've come to the right place for chicken crazies! I currently have a broody bantam looking after 6 Orpington chicks in the lounge (I'm in the southern hemisphere so it's winter here). They will stay inside as long as they need to. My 5 young pekin bantams (cochin bantams) and 1 booted bantam still come indoors at night and if it's horrible outside they stay in their indoor cages as our spare run needs improving to make it more weatherproof for fluffy feet. The kids love it. Our house is a bit more dusty but that doesn't worry us. So you are in good company.
