Hello to all you amazing people who know the wonders of having a home flock! I have spent hours reading all your educational and comical threads as I've been getting started with my very first flock. I thank you all for the help; I'll bet you don't think of how many people you help just by putting in your 2 cents in a thread.

Now a little about my flock, more like my first children. I have started my backyard flock with 3 ducks and 2 geese; I will be getting 2 more ducks and 1 more goose in 2&1/2 weeks, but will be getting rid of the first two geese (which turned out to be ganders dangit!) and then in spring next year, I will be getting my first chickens! I have always wanted a goose (for her many practicalities and eggs I can make great cakes with) and now I have a small flock. So here I am 8 weeks later with the coolest coop and yard, 5 lovely children and I'm expecting more! My husband thinks I've gone insane, but I just can't believe how great it is to have these guys and I'm so looking forward to chickens next year after reading all your posts!

My Flock:
I have: 2 male pilgrim ganders, 1 female fawn&white indian runner duck, and 2 gold star hybrid egg laying female ducks. I am expecting 1 more indian runner girl but this time a blue one, one buff duck and 1 talouse goose-a girl of course.

Maybe you can see that I'm excited, I apologise for the length and look forward to contributing to Backyard Chickens forums and getting to know you!

I haven't gotten any ducks yet but ducklings being so cute I'm sure it's only a matter of time....

from Alabama. Can't wait to see pics of your flock, especially the pilgrims. We have Pekins, Rouens, Indian Runners, & a broody duck sitting on her own eggs plus 3 pilgrim geese eggs.
