Hi so I just found out this morning that my easter egger is a cockeral. Woke up to the lovely crowing in my living room I was wondering can you cross a EE and a Rhode Island Red hen?

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

Yes, you can cross them if you like. But you don't have to hatch if you don't want to.

It is my current understanding that boys get their combs from the mom and girls get their egg color from dad. Though with cross breeds it may be about which is the dominant trait.

Anyways, you *might* end up with some olive egger offspring!

What in the world are your birds doing still in the house at an age they can crow? :sick

I have a Rhode Island Red and Easter Egger cross hen and she's really pretty. She's has puffy cheeks, and she's light red. She does lay brown eggs, though.
