Ok and another question I have been putting eggs in every day have I messed up by not waiting 5 days or so

How are you keeping track of when each egg is suppose to hatch if they are all "due" different days?
AND...
How will you be able to "lockdown" only certain ones?

Well I think what your are doing is called a staggered hatch.


I am not a hatcher...of any type eggs, I am a reader.
I read a lot.

I have not read much about doing a staggered hatch...I read A LOT about people putting all eggs in at one time....lockdown all eggs at one time...

Have you searched for staggered hatch?

You already had some hatch right?

Randy, you are creating a big problem by adding egg every day. You can set once a week if you will get a second incubator to use as a hatcher---then on the lockdown day---you move the ready eggs to this "hatcher" let them hatch---remove all, clean and be set-up when the next batch is ready for the hatcher. Just adding eggs every day---you can not increase the humidity for the hatch---because eggs would be due to hatch daily, but having the humidity high everyday would cause the humidity to be to high for incubation----A Mess.

Randy, sorry but if you been adding eggs every day to the incubator----you screwed up. Now how you will handle it and how they will hatch----I have no idea because I have not nor would I ever try that. Sorry, but it is what it is. I will wish you Luck. At least now you can stop that until you get it figured out what you are wanting to do. Once a week is the best set to cause less problems. BUT having a second incubator to use as a hatcher will help a lot.

Randy I can not answer that---I never tried it---I am sure some will hatch==or should. Maybe you can collect eggs for a week---decide which incubator you are going to use for the incubator or the hatcher and go that way. I set chicken eggs once a week for 17 months----steady----sometimes almost 1000 incubating at one time----never a problem because each week the 18 day old(for chicks--Sooner for quail) eggs were moved to the hatcher----hatched, then the hatcher was cleaned---and was turned back on a day before needed. My Incubators stayed CLEAN because there was Never any eggs hatching in them. My hatcher humidity stayed higher and the incubator humidity lower. Worked great. Good Luck

Okay... you said you have two incubators.

ONE is for eggs before day 15 that need to be turned three times a day and should not have humidity.
TWO will be for eggs after day 15 that need the humidity and should not be turned.

This is probably the best you can do for the situation you are now in.

Next time put them all in at once.
