I have experience- one of my friends got 1,000 meat birds and used white light and 700 died.

OK, I have raised 1000's and Only use white lights and rarely loose one----Never have I used a red heat bulb. Your friends 700 did not die from a white light---maybe from not having enough heat. Some people do not understand---its not about a light shinning on them---its about the proper heat from the light that keeps them warm so they all don't die----and you can have the heat to hot----a bad thing too!

It depends, what is the temperature under it at ground level? Move it up or down to get 95 degrees under it. I would move the water and food closer to the light also. What are you feeding them?
