I would definately get several breeds! I currently have 9 breeds and they all get along just fine! We like to have 3 of each.
If you have one breed that's really different (like a top hat or a tiny bantam) you do increase the risk of them getting picked on and some breeds are more dominant than others. But as long as they are not overcrowded, they will work out their own pecking order.
