I'm really mad!

I had 3 hens hatch out 12 chicks last weeks and they were horrible mothers all they cared about was food/water. They wouldn't set on them or anything! So I'm taking care of them now. I fired them from being mothers ...

So, I got the little chick a buddy today. I didn't realize how hyper the little thing was until I got her a friend and, holy cow, they are like night and day! The rescued chick is always making noise and always moving. I thought it was because she was lonely but even with a friend she still is super hyper. The new little chick is REALLY mellow...perfectly happy to eat and sleep and hardly ever peeps. I'm kinda worried now...I hope the rescued chick doesn't pick on her new friend before they are big enough to be introduced to the rest of my chickens. I tried to get the new chick as close to the same size as the rescued chick but the new chick is a little smaller. I'm thinking that the rescued chick is a Barred Rock but not for sure. The new chick is a Black Australorp. Any way... just thought I would post an update if anyone was interested. Thanks for all the supportive comments. By the way, the mirror trick worked really well.

Some people are just horrid. I wish we could treat people the way they treat animals.....I don't blame you for your anger...it angers me to hear about it (and see it!). (Have you ever seen Animal Cops on Animal Planet?

Thank you for taking the baby for the time being. Have you talked to these people at all?
