Mmmm, our messages may have gotten crossed along the way because I did indeed send you a lab sample that tracking said "was delivered to the front desk, reception area, or mail room at 12:17 pm on February 10, 2023". I assumed one of the samples you sent to a lab was mine. So, this is a new offer if you'd like to do additional testing... on your very own hens!

The I did send it off. I didn't know whose it was. I got three samples, and I sent off three samples.

I had you send them to work. More reliable mail service in town than where I am.

It's true that there have always been quite a number of derailments. The difference is instant media spreading photos and videos over the internet for what might have been page 6 local news in the paper or 3 minutes on the 11 o'clock TV news.

Large-scale derailments are relatively rare, but they happen periodically -- creating spills of various materials and, frequently, setting fires in the brush along the tracks.

My DH used to be a firefighter and considers allowing these chemicals to burn off quite normal -- the products of combustion are less toxic than the unburned chemicals AND trying to put them out injudiciously tends to kill firefighters.



Accidents happen.

Rail is MUCH safer transport for hazardous material than trucks, but no system on earth is ever perfect.

Maybe there is a need to crack down on some aspect of rail transport or maybe not. But no matter what you will never eliminate all accidents.



My theory for all the panic is that people's Covid Chickens, bought in 2020, are experiencing their second winter and vast numbers of people who have now had chickens for a couple years are, nonetheless, totally unprepared to cope with the idea that their "pets with benefits" do not retain their high production levels after the first season or two.

I agree. I’m also not okay with the response by the railway, state and fed government.

He talks about the results and shows the paperwork. I suppose one could pause the video and read it if they are interested enough. I did not, he appears to be a trustworthy source to me.

And of course that's just his sample @Aunt Angus 's results may be different.

Really disappointed he seems to know so little about what to feed chickens. Maybe we should invite him over to BYC, he could learn a bit!

@Aunt Angus, just a thought: Some folks visiting your thread are just interested in seeing your test results and for some baffling reason they don't want to read pages and pages of banter about bugs, trains, CDs, etc.
I'm willing to offer my services if you'd like me to gather names and PM them all when you get test results. I could post a message every once in a while saying something like, "Aunt Angus expects test results by March 1st. Just PM me if you'd like to be notified."

I can make a tag list and tag every one who has posted here in this thread in a reply to the results when they arrive.
