I'm so angry right now.

Was it the driver"s fault? Did he intentionally try to hit them? If the answer is yes then he should be held responsible.
True your guineas should not be on the road, but if it was your child crossing the road...Would you blame the driver?

Thank you!!! Don't sit there and gritch at people who hit an animal YOU let roam, better they hit an animal than kill themselves or someone else.

Accidents happen and we need to learn from them. It is our responsibility to protect our pets/livestock and in this instance a covered run or at least netting to prevent this from happening would be best. If the driver intentionally tried to hit the birds then he/she is an inhumane excuse for a human being but you need to use your anger for good and take care of the problem and properly fence the birds in.

Sorry about your birds.

yup, if you let your birds have access to the road it is hard to be mad at the drivers...cars should have access to the roads, that's where they go.

now if the car had come into your yard...

you have to give the driver the benefit of the doubt...

Well its good to know that guineas never EVER run or walk slowly...I'm so glad YOU know my animals so well. I'm also comforted to know that YOU think I'm careless and irresponsible. Since YOU were not here and YOU didn't see what I saw its fair for YOU to pass judgement on me. I really do like this forum but there are times when some people become a little bit judgemental and rude. Thanks for your opinion though halo. I can sleep easier tonight because of you. As far as everything else goes. I know there was no traffic to swerve around because I was outside when it happened. We live on a straight away and the guineas will sit on the shoulder from time to time. NEVER once have we seen them just dart out into the road. And also if the animals are laying in my yard hit how is that MY fault some idiot came in to MY yard to hit them? I have seen people swerve to the shoulder at my birds...I have seen people drifting off the road here almost hitting me and my dogs walking. So unless YOU know what the situation is for sure YOU need to not pass judgement on me. As far as the rest of you thank you for caring and not being so rude.

"I" never passed judgment on you. "I" was just giving the the people the who hit your birds the benefit of the doubt withougt immediately passing judgment on a situation that YOU hadn't given all of the details of. "I" am sorry you lost your birds. "I" never said it was YOUR fault if someone hit the birds in YOUR yard. "I" merely said that if YOUR birds were in the road (where cars just happen to drive) it MIGHT not be the fault of the driver that YOUR birds are were hit by a car (that happens to belong in the road)

I didn't say you...you weren't the one who pretty much said I was careless and what not....I understand what you were saying. Halo is the one that apparently has all the answers to my problems.

I’m so sorry for your loss. You must feel outrages. When thing like that happen to me I always tell myself “people don’t usually do things to you they do things for themselves”. Then I also know that things are no always as they appear. Sometimes hitting an animal on the road cannot be avoided. Have you thought of any way that you can let your guineas roam free and not get on the road?

I remember my dad had a flock of guineas when I was only six. They were always roaming and never stayed at home. It uses to make me so mad because it was my job to find them and bring them in at night. I think they preferred to sleep in the trees.

I have only one guinea and it stays with my chickens mostly. She is only 6 month old so I hope she doesn’t get the notion to roam. I did see her on the roof of my barn yesterday. I wonder if she would go further if I had a flock of them. Anyway I am so sorry for your loss. It really hurts when we lose a pet, and even more so if we think it might have be able to be avoided.
