I'm so mean to Kane (my GSD).

AND WHERE ARE THE PICTURES OF THE CHICKENS CLIMBING ALL OVER THIS DOG?

You are crueler to us than you are to the dog.

I was too busy nursing my scraped arm. Kane knows better. The only creature more stubborn than Kane would be....well...me.

Our boxer, Hendrix would literally wear himself out over a squirrel across the street at the parsonage. Crazy squirrel knew just how high he had to be to stay out of reach, but be such a tempting morsel . . .Hendrix would sleep for hours when he came home and gave up the fight.

Use to have a Rottie that was a squirrel killer, except one squirrel who got named Chip after he no longer had a tail, Ted bit is off. But he was always back around taunting Ted once he figured out the extent of his line.

We also used to have a dog teasing squirrel. One day, either the squirrel was having a bad day, or the Dobe was having a good day, but whichever it was, we no longer have a squirrel. Oops.

My neighbors have a ton of squirrels. I don't have any. Wonder why?

It sounds like all good fun...but it really isn't. Years back I lost my Champion Collie to a squirrel. It used to taunt Joey and he would chase it. He never it catch it, but one day during the chase the squirrel jumped from the fence, over Joey's head, and into the tree behind him. Joey, of course, jumped trying to catch it. He snapped his head back trying to get it in that instant when it was airborne....and broke his own neck. Sadly, even a neurosurgeon was not able to save him, and he crossed over the Rainbow Bridge a few days later.

So while chasing squirrels seems like an innocent game, it can have heartbreaking consequences.

We need to take some new pics of Kane and Jax anyhow, so might as well get one of Kane and the chooks. It'll have to wait until DH's next round of days off; this weekend.

I'm not happy about them chasing squirrels either. At night the boys are allowed out for free time in the yard; without supervision. They will come to us and absolutely convince us that they need to go out to potty when all they want to do is check for that dang squirrel. I'll be glad when the pecans are all gone.

My two dogs are constantly after squirrels in the yard. Just the other day my border collie was barking at the squirrel up a tree and all of a sudden, the squirrel starts throwing nuts down at her! It was the funniest thing!

I wish I got it on camera.
