In 8th grade Jr High choir, no boys signed up. All year, it was all girls. So for our spring concert, the teacher had us all sew (or our moms sew) matching dresses. The hem could be no shorter than 2" above the knee. Welllll.... some of the girls decided to skip that suggestion. Wow, some of them really showed a LOT of leg.

Since the material was cut that short and there was no way to get more of the material nor time to sew another dress, the teacher just had to bite her tongue.

In my high-school the "cool game" was 2 guys stand across from each other, feet shoulder width apart, standing on grass.. and you throw a knife between the other person's feet.

Each person goes, then you step back and repeat.

Kind of like the car game chicken, but less deadly.



in hindsight... since the person who has terrible aim does NOT suffer... and the person with better aim DOES suffer..


WHY was that a fun game????

Because no one wants to be a chicken in front of their friends or cousins or big brother. Same reason we'd jump off a bridge into the middle of a river or hold a lit match until it got too close to your fingers. Or___. Or___. Or___. Fill in the blanks, I'm sure at least one of us has tried it.

Hm. Grandparents, actually. He said live shells, but if anything had exploded I think that would have been part of the story. Maybe they stopped him. Who knows? This story usually preceeded the "guardian angel" bit. From all accounts (and my own experience), Dad was highly intelligent, totally fearless, insatiably curious and with no common sense whatsoever.

I'm so old I remember when we had a glove factory in the town where we were living at the time over a half century ago. My wife worked there for a little while until she went to work for a local greenhouse grower of all kinds of plants. We both learned a lot from that man.

Absolutely not. Those were the "popular girls," most of them were cheerleaders. I was one of the social outcasts.

I have monster calves so ankle lengrh is the limit for me. Always flare leg or boot cut jeans. I have to wear a size 11 mens boot in order to get them over my calves. No thanks, I'll just go without boots.

On a phone lightly touch Like and then select from the ones that show up.

If I'm understanding the question correctly, you touch and hold the like icon. A list of standard emojies will pop up. That would be the standard laugh, and sad, and so on. If you want an emoji other than what is on the list, you have to know the keyboard shortcut. Like. (Colon)lau for the little rolling laughing guy.
