I'm so old I Remember when:

A few years ago the phone company was working on the junction box in our backyard. He said to reduce redundancy and avoid upgrading the whole underground phone system, they were switching landlines over to internet.
Voice over IP (VoIP).

Edit - this would only work on an area where you had either DSL or other high speed form of internet as it would require the ability to carry large amts of data.

We called it high jump, and what about skipping ope? I was great at double Dutch!
If I tried that now I'd break a hip :old

I'm so old I remember walking with my grandfather when he was hollering gee haw at the mule when he was cultivating his crops. I don't remember following behind him when he had a back mounted duster dusting the crops with DDT. I was told about that. I'd like to see the 8mm movies made of it.

I'm also old enough to remember riding in the bed of pickups being normal and no seatbelt laws. You could shove as many kids as you wanted in the back seat of a car or ride with them on your lap.
And back to smoking...
Parents could smoke in those cars full of kids with the windows up and no one said a thing about it.

My brother and I both were diagnosed with permanent lung damage from cigarette smoke and we never smoked. We were two of those kids held captive in the back seat in a cloud of smoke.
