Old people are a living repository of history. I really (REALLY) wish I talked to my grandmother more. I heard my mom's stories of living through the Great Depression as a young girl. I missed out on hearing my grandmother's stories as a mother in that time.

This is a good reason for us to write our stories down. Even when we're gone, they can still be shared with others.

I know, my grandma was always reminiscing, but as it got old hearing the same stories multiple times a day, we never thought to write them down. Now that she's gone, I wish I would have.

Well, at least I can still write down the ones I remember...

For myself, thankfully, I have kept a diary since I was ten, and I intend to keep one until the day I die.

I did change it recently, yes. I do not have that dish, unfortunately, but SourRoses sent me the picture. I hope to find a dish like that, and hope I can afford it when I do.

My oldest had the worst smelling feet as a teenager. Mostly it was due to him constantly wearing the same sneakers every day, often without socks. It got to the point where I made him remove them before entering the house and leaving them outside. Teenage boys. Sheesh.

Vinegar. My DD had smelly feets, we soaked her (feet) in 50/50 white vinegar water, washed all her socks and shoes in the same, and it cleared it right up. I think it is yeast that smells so bad and vinegar kills it. But you have treat ALL the socks, very hot water, and the shoes as well.

Too late now. Sadly he is no longer on this side of the grass. He passed when he was 30. That was 13 years ago. Most memories are happy ones ... but those sneakers when he was a teen.

My Uncle gave me another small thing with some stories from college in it. He wrote four books (I did not read the first as it is only in Spanish) for us family members, and I'm glad he did.

According to DD and friends, teenage boys DO stink ... and it has absolutely nothing to do with their hygiene or cologne!

I wouldn't have thought any Russians would have emigrated to Maryland - it seems so unlike their home climate.

That's the precise reason why our old neighbors settled here in the first place - that and the proximity to the ocean!
